So to my second blog.

Been nothing short of chaotic these last few weeks since my last blog, been so so busy.

Im sure your reading this either cause you are bored or want to know what ive been up to, or do what i do on wikipedia, just stray so let me entertain you.

Spent the last week being the college librarian in the absence of the ill Mr Hughes, and trust me it isnt all about stacking and dealing with books when you have very insulting, and rowdy kids to try and keep in order. Some of them Year 7s…i dont remember people being so ghastly when I was in year seven. But the easy access to the kettle was brilliant and being praised for my work, well thats always great.

Been quiet on the radio front as a result but things still plodding away on to relaunch. Got a few new recruits, firstly Nikki one of our new PA’s and is excellent inside and outside of the radio, Jodie who is great for debating and gets annoyed when i mention the words Gus Honeybun, and i cannot forget Boddog, our mascot. Theres a story to him, he was found as a “stray” by Mr Graham, one of the tech teachers who sort of gave him to us…..so all hail Boddog the Bodmin College Radio dog. Top Gear Dog eat your heart out.

So two weeks of media studies essays, dealing with rowdy kids and some radio work, im shot to pieces so until next time….nighty night.

Well…where do I begin.

First blog, so i better make it interesting. Into my second of what could be three years at the brilliant sixth form in bodmin, and so far so good, bobbing around having the time of my life getting my new radio masterplan into place and basically i cant wait.

Before I go on iam sure you are curious to what my masterplan is so here it goes. Last year was really the honeymoon period and we could experiment but when we return to the air in a few weeks it will be revolution.

Ill start with my baby, the Breakfast show. My baby cause im doing every day bar tuesday and weekends! Basically we take elements of breakfast shows and give it new life in the Bodmin College Radio way. Our blend comprises of easy ish listening music, discussion about issues inside and outside the school and review of the newspapers. So a kinda blend between BBC Breakfast and Pirate FM. For that we are joined by (hopefully) a fellow presenter and a member of staff so it creates an interesting blend.

The rest of the day programming is still very much being planned, but we are considering doing our own radio play based on HG Wells War of the Worlds, though i would imagine we wont have 1400 students and roughly 100 staff running round saying Aliens are coming! As entertaining as it would be…

If i can also structure it Id like to do one based on the Vrillion Alien Hoax of 1977. For those that dont know, in a ITN news broadcast on the Hannington transmitter was hijacked by a “representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command”. The picture stayed the same but the audio basically said remove all weapons of destruction or the Aliens will invade. Im a bit of an anorak….dont get me started on the Max Headroom Pirating incident of 1983…..classic moment.

Anyway back to my tea, cookies, hard work and Lightning Seeds!
