Tips on becoming a top Snooker Player

  1. Snooker is a game that takes a lot of practice and dedication so the earlier you can start playing the better.
  2. The first thing to do is go and find your nearest snooker club or hall and ask about how you go about becoming a member.
  3. Most snooker clubs have many talented players that you can learn from. Be aware that some of these clubs may have a minimum age you have to be to join.
  4. If you have the money you can buy your own snooker table but these can be very expensive and only should be done after you have had some success in the sport.
  5. Playing Billiards and Pool is a good way of working on your skills with a cue.
  6. Buy your own cue which suits you. Go to a sport shop and try a few out don’t order one from a catalogue as you can’t tell from a picture if it is the cue for you.
  7. If you haven’t got a snooker club near you find out if there is a local youth club near you as sometimes they have pool tables.
  8. Before you start competing and playing against others try and get a table to yourself and practice your shots.
  9. Once you are ready to play against opponents learn from them. Analyse their games and as soon as you have played them look for someone else to play as the more players you play the more you learn.
  10. Watch as much snooker on TV as possible. Learn what the pros do and when they do it.
  11. When you are ready start investigating local snooker tournaments you can play in. Most areas have their own league which you may be able to join.
